$29.4 BILLION dollars, that’s just an estimate of the damage from Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey alone. Businesses, tourism, transportation infrastructure, and personal property were all devastated by the super storm last month. There are families who suffered long-term consequences, not only financial, that need our help.
A massive concert is being held on 12.12.12 in NYC that will support the Robin Hood Foundation Relief Fund. They are claiming 100% of the proceeds will “provide storm victims both immediate relief and long-term aid including assistance with housing, job-training, medical care, and legal/financial counseling”. The concert tickets are selling for outrageous sums ($45,000 for a seat??) but thankfully 34 TV networks are covering the concert and select movie theaters will be showing the concert on their theater screens.
Like Live Aid in the 80’s, an all-star lineup is coming out in full force to help those in need. Here’s the lineup: Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, The Who, Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Eric Clapton, Chris Martin, Kanye West, and Roger Waters. iHeart Radio has made a special channel this month to promote the artists on the concert bill. In the spirit of the holidays and caring for those less fortunate than we have things, we’re all hoping the concert provides some hope and financial help for a great cause.
