A Dub Step Drop in a Country Song?

“BREAKUP IN A SMALL TOWN”    Sam Hunt

Sam Hunt_Breakup_In_Small_TownThis isn’t your momma’s country music.   Sam Hunt manages to inject unprecented R&B flavor into his latest down-home tale of life in a small town.  In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me for a creative DJ to sneak a dub step beat into a remix version and it would actually work on this country song!  If you’ve ever experienced rural life, you know that everybody knows everyone’s business and town gossip spreads quick when not much else in going on around town.   “Breakup In A Small Town” mixes Sam’s rap-lite verses with a KILLER drop beat before the chorus.   You may hate it, you may love it (I do!), but the evolution of country music is inevitable.

“BOTTOMS UP” Brantley Gilbert with T.I.

brantley_gilbert_bottoms_upRappers and country music superstars teaming up together isn’t a new concept. Ludacris has recorded a couple songs with Jason Aldean, Jerrod Niemann recorded with Pitbull, and Nelly has topped the charts twice with duets with Tim McGraw (Over and Over) and Florida-Georgia Line (Cruise). Add another hip hop/country collaboration to the list as T.I. joins rising country superstar, Brantley Gilbert, with a remix of “Bottoms Up”. The new version keeps it country for the most part but T.I.’s verse add a fun hip hop twist guaranteed to crossover to an even bigger audience.
