AC-DC’s “The Razors Edge”: Album Spotlight

Razors+Edge+ACDCIn 1980, AC-DC’s crown jewel, Back In Black, was the culmination of their meteoric heavy metal career. It signaled the end of the Bon Scott era and a transition to Brian Johnson. Over the course of the next twenty three years, AC-DC released solid albums like For Those About To Rock, Flick Of The Switch, and Fly On The Wall but none of those albums lived up to the glory of Back In Black. In 2003, with new producer, Bruce Fairburn, who had previously worked with bands like Aerosmith and Bon Jovi, there was a renewed energy and arguably their greatest post-Black In Black album.

lp_-_ac_dc_-_razors_edgeListen to the opening riffs on Thunderstruck and you’re taken back to the early 70’s work of Angus Young. Money Talks was ready friendly but maintained their signature AC-DC sound. Looking for adrenaline-inducing metal anthems, you’ve got the triple play, Are You Ready, Fire Your Guns and Got You By The Balls. They even snuck in a sly holiday rocker, Mistress For Christmas. The Aussie metal gods may never approach their 70’s glory days, but The Razors Edge is a must-have addition to your CD collection.
