Pick Your Favorite Cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire”

A quick scroll down the track listings of the Fifty Shades Of Grey OST and you’ll see AWOLNATION covering Bruce Springsteen’s 80s hit, “I’m On Fire”.   Back in the day, the iconic music video introduced us to working-class Bruce playing the role of grease monkey mechanic.  Side note: Bruce had some acting talent, why didn’t he make a movie?  We watch him fixing the car of a mysterious woman who all we saw of her was legs, heels, a white dress, and her impressive car.  “WE live out in the hills…” The lonesome brooding melody captured the mood as Bruce brought her keys back to her L.A. mansion and pondered which path he was going to head down.

Tell me now baby is he good to you
Can he do to you the things that I do
I can take you higher
I’m on fire
Sometimes it’s like someone took a knife baby
Edgy and dull and cut a six-inch valley
Through the middle of my soul
At night I wake up with the sheets soaking wet
And a freight train running through the
Middle of my head
Only you can cool my desire
I’m on fire

Since 1984, the song has been covered by the likes of Johnny Cash, Mumford and Sons, John Mayer, Tori Amos, James Blake, and a recent killer bluegrass version by Town Mountain.  What’s the best cover version?   Hit me back with some comments!
