“PRIMETIME” JANELLE MONAE Ft. MIGUEL
Music critics have been singing the praises of Janelle Monae and Miguel for the past few years. Both artists have received Grammy nominations, rave reviews, but have yet to breakthrough commercially on the Billboard singles chart. They blend their unique styles in Janelle’s new single, Primetime. The sensual Sci-Fi video is set in a futuristic nightclub where Miguel can’t keep his eyes off the exotic Monae. The song screams Prince circa-Purple Rain with sex appeal, a sultry tempo, and even an orgasmic hard rock guitar solo that dances over the steamy, flirty vocals.
“IF I LOVED YOU” DELTA RAE
Last year, the Alabama Shakes came out of nowhere and reminded the world that rock and roll music is still alive. In 2013, keep an eye open for this year’s surprise: Delta Rae. The band proclaims their music is not idle music to listen to, rather music that demands your attention. They toured the U.S. supporting ZZ Ward and received rave reviews for their intensity and soulful sound. In their latest single, If I Loved You, the band receives help from Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac (although he’s not seen in the video). Lead singer, Elizabeth Hopkins describes the new song, “”Telling someone point-blank that you don’t love them is difficult and painful. I’ve done it. It feels horrible, but there is also a release that comes along with it, a lifting of a weight. I think this video lets you focus on the rawness of that message.”
