Bruno Mars Drops Retro “Finesse” Video (Cardi B)

Turn down the music on the latest Bruno Mars video for “Finesse” and you’ll imagine you’re watching an episode of “In Living Color” with the Wayans Brothers!   Turn up the music and you’re still going be back to the 90s with a retro themed New Jack Swing track.   The song gets a remix by female rapper du jour, Cardi B who recently tied a long standing Billboard chart record.  There’s a lot of similarity to TLC’s early hit, “What About Your Friends” in the new Bruno Mars remix video that he also directed.   I swear all Cardi B needed was to wear Left Eye’s condom eyepatch and we’d be back in a time capsule when there was an actual Clinton in the White House.

“FINESSE”   Bruno Mars

“We out here drippin’ in finesse, it don’t make no sense”.  Finesse” is the fifth single from Bruno’s latest album, 24K.  Besides the #1 hit title track, 2017 also saw the release of “That’s What I Like”, “Versace On The Floor”, and “Chunky”.   “Finesse” even made it to #19 on Mike’s Daily Jukebox’s countdown of the Top 30 Songs of 2017.  Click here if you want to check out the original version of the song.

Hard to believe but Cardi B becomes the third artist in music history to have their first 3 debut singles simultaneously in the Billboard Top 10.  Who else is in this illustrious list?  Well, of the course, The Beatles with “Can’t Buy Me Love”, “Twist And Shout”, “She Loves You”, “I Wanna Hold Your Hand”, and “Please Please Me” owned the ENTIRE TOP 5 in April of 1964.  Who was the third artist?  Believe it or not, Ashanti!   Her hits, “Foolish”, “Always On Time” (with Ja Rule), and “What’s Love” (with Fat Joe) all reached the Top 10 on Billboard in April 2002.
