In the crowded late night TV talk show competition, James Carden struck gold with his running bit, “Carpool Karoake”. When your show starts at 12:37AM on the East Coast, it’s tough to grab viewers and “The Late Late Show With James Corden” is nightly trailing the likes of Seth Meyers and Nightline in TV ratings. But when you talk about YouTube views, no one including Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel have been able to keep pace with Carden’s “Carpool Karoake” skits. At this point, there have been almost a BILLION views on YouTube featuring sing-along versions with Adele, Elton John, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna (last week), the cast of Hamilton, and even Michelle Obama doing Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” dance moves! This week, James reached the pinnacle with two viral videos dominating the internet. On Tuesday, Bruno Mars jumped in the van with Carden and sang a medley of hits from “Uptown Funk” to “Grenade” to his latest hit “24KMagic”. In just the first two days, the video had 18 Million Views!

As popular as the Bruno Mars segment has been it may be soon eclipsed by Mariah Carey’s event last night. James asks Mariah in the van what she wants for Christmas and she replies, “to sing my song with you”. We’re all in for a surprise as James has been all year convincing his carpool guests to also sing along with Mariah’s modern day holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas is You”. With a clever mixing job, we get a special all-star collaboration performance including Adele, Chris Martin, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Demi Lovato bringing us a whole lot of Christmas cheer!
