5 Star Rating from the Worldsbestbars.com and the #2 rated Chicago nightlife attraction on Tripadvisor.com, Buddy Guy’s Legends Blues Bar is one of the Windy City’s must-see destinations on any visit. If you want an authentic experience, look no further for one of the best bars in Chicago. The club isn’t huge, there’s only about twenty tables and two bars. If you don’t get there early, you might be waiting outside. But once inside, prepare yourself for a musical epiphany. Built with incredible acoustics in a perfect dark and smoky setting, there is a joyous love of genuine Chicago Blues that permeates the crowd. You might even want to sample their famous Cajun gumbo and cornbread before the main act steps on stage.
Buddy Guy’s Legends on 700 S. Wabash in Chicago was opened in 1989 during Buddy’s renaissance. After signing with Silvertone Records, Buddy won an overdue Grammy for Best Blues Album, “Damn Right I Got The Blues”. He opened the club shortly afterwards. Every major blues and rock guitar icon has played there including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, Jeff Beck, Robert Randolph, and B.B. King. Buddy does an annual residency every January where patrons are treated to his unrelenting energy and passionate style by one of the all-time masters. The 77 year old won’t sit still during his 2+ hour sets and neither will you. If you get to Chicago, you won’t regret venturing to this mecca for the Blues.
