“COMFORTABLY NUMB” EDDIE VEDDER and ROGER WATERS
Mick Jagger joked “it was the largest collection of old English musicians ever assembled” for the 12-12-12 Concert For Hurricane Sandy after short sets by The Who, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney (with the remaining members of Nirvana), and Roger Waters from Pink Floyd. One of the highlights of the charity concert was artists coming together for special one of a time performances. Bon Jovi joined Springsteen, Chris Martin of Coldplay teamed up with Michael Stipe from R.E.M. My favorite collaboration was this track from Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”. The lead guitar solo was brilliant and the inclusion of Eddie Vedder made up for Roger’s vocals which have slightly deteriorated with age.
“RADIOACTIVE” IMAGINE DRAGONS
Radioactive has a post-apocalyptic sound with harsh drumbeats and chants of “Welcome To The New Age”. Expecting a sci-fi video to match the song’s tone, you’ll be shocked to see the creative freedom they took here. Evil noises from a dark, sinister barn leads to believe they’re there for a cockfight. Imagine the surprise at seeing violent Muppets, Lou Diamond Phillips (La Bamba), and all of it is taken as “serious”. Easily one of the craziest videos I’ve seen this year!
“PICKING UP THE PIECES” PALOMA FAITH
By special request: Paloma’s the latest English female singer/songwriter to crossover in the States. Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Adele, Emeli Sande,……Paloma Faith is not only a singer, she’s been an actress on many British TV shows and was one of the judges on the UK version of The Voice. She’s been signed to Epic Records by L.A. Reid, who said about Paloma, “In an era where authenticity resonates, Paloma is the epitome of soul. It’s an honor for Epic Records to be part of her career in the United States.”
