Elton John Gets Spiritual (Rare)

Elton John Honky ChateauWant to read some scary stuff online, search Google for Elton John’s religious views.  Wow!  You’d imagine you were searching for Charles Manson reading some of these websites.   One site proclaimed Elton and songwriter, Bernie Taupin, are evil perverts who have sold their souls to the Devil.  Their fascination with the occult has powered their career and their  homes are decorated in Satanic art.   Another site announced that Elton’s gay lifestyle clouds everything he does.  Elton once said in Parade Magazine, “Religion promotes hatred and spite against gays. From my point of view, I would ban religion completely.  I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems.”

Elton-peachtree-road-albumHow much of all of this is true is HIGHLY debatable, but Elton John has also recorded some incredibly inspiring spiritual songs including The Circle Of Life, The Border Song (Holy Moses), Candle In The Wind, Your Song, and Believe to name just a few.   Here are two of Elton John’s underrated “rare” album tracks that carry a hopeful message of love, God, and eternal happiness.    Salvation appears on his 1972 album, Honky Chateau, and Answer In The Sky was included on Peachtree Road, a solid 2004 album that many fans slept on.
