ELTON JOHN TRIVIA: What was Elton’s first Billboard Hit?

His dual-sided single “Candle In The Wind/Something About The Way You Look Tonight” has been named by the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest selling single in rock history. Of course, Elton was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2002.

Then when his debut self-titled album came out, “Border Song” reached #92 in the U.S. The song was the least successful “Hit” but was added to Elton’s epic Greatest Hits album. Of course, from humble beginnings came an onslaught of huge hits. “Your Song”, “Friends”, “Levon”, and “Tiny Dancer” all quickly followed and became signature Top 40 hits.
