Every Storm Runs Out Of Rain: New Music from Kid Rock, The Pretty Reckless, and Gary Allan

2012 saw the EP, “Hit Me Like A Man”, continue the musical progression of Taylor Momsen’s bad-ass band, The Pretty Reckless. The EP features a live version of their first hit, “Makes Me Wanna Die”, and shows growth with the emo-rawk ballad “Under The Water”. Taylor’s raspy vocals build up until a heavy guitar riff. Hearing this song paired up with the Kid Rock song also featured today makes for a perfect bookend of the two sides of a male/female relationship under stress.

Classic rock 2012 style: “The Mirror” from Kid Rock’s latest release, Rebel Soul, sounds like a lost track from Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band with a little Pink Floyd influence on the backing track. Add in a little Auto-Tune to modernize the sound and a blistering guitar solo to intensify the emotion, Kid Rock’s got a new Southern rock slow burning anthem. Rebel Soul crosses music genres and brings back the old school rapping Kid Rock to his newest ventures into country and modern rock.

I’ll admit Gangnam Style is so much fun and recently passed Justin Bieber’s “Baby” for the most viewed song of all-time on YouTube. But then you get a REAL song like Gary Allan’s latest with a beautiful message that bad times don’t last. The lyrics reminds us of the power of hope, freedom of mind, and personal strength. Gary’s even donating proceeds from the sales for the Hurricane Sandy relief fund. The video has less views in it’s premiere week than Gangnam Style averages in a 12 hours!
