ryan star impossibleIf you haven’t discovered Ryan Star yet, you’re missing out on one of the most soulful, intense singers around today. It’s not your fault if you don’t know Ryan. His record labels have done little to support the Long Island rocker and his biggest exposure was on a reality TV show (Rock Band) almost ten years ago. But if you watched the movie, P.S. I Love You with Gerard Butler, you were blown away by Ryan’s song “Last Train Home”. If you heard his 2012 song, “Stay Awhile” it became your new favorite love song. Island Records didn’t promote the single so Ryan went on his own personal crusade to get his song noticed. He was able to perform “Stay Awhile” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Rachel Ray’s show.

No big studio help, Ryan admits most were simply composed on a piano in his apartment. “A lot of the vocals were first take”. When the record was complete, Ryan played the record at a small 50 seat venue called Rockwood Music Hall’s Stage 3, essentially a dimly lit basement in NYC. During the intimate session, Ryan’s new music touched the heart of everyone in attendance. He told the crowd, “We’re all friends here” and with their support the record is now available.

ryan star 2014“Angels and Animals” has been described as a concept album. Raw, passionate, it’s the emotional story of a man looking for answers, hoping to win back the heart of a woman he once loved. The heartfelt lead single, “Impossible” and the CD’s opening track “Sailing On” set the mood. The uplifting “I Will Survive” (not the disco hit) will be your new personal motivation anthem. “My Life With You” is an amazing romantic lullaby. The pensive rocker “Spaceman Fugitive” just keeps building intensity. The piano ballads “Gone To Heaven” and “Where The Island Ends” will dig deep into your soul. If you’re a fan of bands like The Script, Rob Thomas, Daughtry, old Phil Collins, you need to find this album!
