Mariah Carey with Rick Ross, Wisin y Yandel (Ft Chris Brown), Pierce The Veil, Javier Colon

Mariah’s back with a new Island Def Jam single.  Here’s the video premiere in anticipation of her upcoming CD.     This is a big week for Mariah.  The NY Giants and the Dallas Cowboys kick off the NFL season Wednesday night.   Mariah and No Doubt will be performing at the kickoff party.    VH1  ran a contest this week for the “Greatest Artist of the 90’s”.    It came down to TLC and Mariah and she won!    The inspirational new single features Meek Mill and Rick Ross.   I found Meek’s part distracting but Ross’ contribution flowed so well with Mariah.  Everything you love about Mariah Carey is in this video:   she looks incredible as the ultimate ring girl, she’s flawlessly hitting all of the high notes, and the lyrics are so motivating.

Summer is nearing the end but the party hasn’t ended.   Another party starter jam to get your heart started is the newly released single by Reggaeton’s hottest duo.    Add in two hot verses by Chris Brown and T-Pain and you’ll be turning up the volume and dancing along with the beat.   Wisin y Yandel usually record in their native Spanish and I’m sure that version of this song will sound ever better.

This post-hardcore style and the screaming won’t be everyone’s favorite but Pierce The Veil just released a really fun video for their latest single, “King For A Day”.    You’ll love the bank robbery theme even though the opening skit doesn’t work as well as they imagined.  The song features Kellen Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens adding his powerful vocals to the mix.    Great summer for Pierce The Veil, playing for the first time on The Warped Tour main stage and a new single rising up the charts.

The music industry has changed so much.  Now an artist who appears on a reality show for a few episodes quickly gains exposure to millions of people.  In a matter of a few weeks, they gain hardcore fans that used to take years of playing in bars, small venues, and working your way up the ladder.   Yet, Javier Colon, who won the inaugural season of The Voice, did pay some dues.  He was signed to Capital Records from 2002-2006, but after little success, he was dropped from his label.   Five years later, the door has swung open thanks to NBC.  “1000 Lights” has a Taio Cruz-vibe, an uplifting spirit, and should be a single.
