Friends Remake With All-Black Cast – Jay-Z “Moonlight”

Move over Jennifer Aniston, there is a remake of “Friends” on the way.   Well, actually it’s only seven minutes long but Jay-Z has blown our mind once again with his latest music video, “Moonlight”.    An all-black All-Star cast featuring Jerrod Carmichael as Ross, Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) as Phoebe, Issa Rae (Insecure) as Rachel, and comedian Lil Rel Howery as Joey recreate a classic episode of the NBC sitcom.   “The One Where No One Is Ready” has been remade with all of the silly one-liners covered by the new cast.   They even updated the “I’ll Be There For You” theme song with a version of Whodini’s “Friends” set at the same NYC water fountain!    It looks so impressive that I actually had to Google if this was an actual new show coming this fall.   Just as we’re sucked into this alternate TV world, Carmichael breaks out of his role and runs into Hannibal Burress.    Burress declares “It was whack as shit, it was just Seinfeld episodes with black people!”    At this point, “Moonlight”, a sensitive track from Jay-Z from his 4:44 album takes over the music video.   It’s a great attention grabbing movie by Jay-Z and a much more accessible song than the lead single, “The Story Of O.J.”
