Halestorm Reinvents Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush”

lzzy_hale_girlcrushHalestorm has been dabbling with Country Music the past couple of years. The opening to ESPN’s College Football three hour pregame show features Lzzy Hale and Big & Rich joining forces for a rousing version of “Coming To Your City”. Last year, Eric Church teamed up with Lzzy for a fiery duet of his song “That’s Damn Rock and Roll”. So it comes with little surprise that Halestorm chose one of the most talked-about country songs of 2015 to cover for their guest spot on the Sirius XM – Octave broadcast. “Girl Crush” by Little Big Town skirted controversy with the perceived lesbian theme which initially didn’t go over well with conservative Country Music radio stations. But the song’s theme of love, obsession, and loss couldn’t be denied and “Girl Crush” became a multi-Platinum career defining hit for Little Big Town.  Halestorm’s acoustic version brings even more intensity to the original and despite the loss of LBT’s incredible harmony accompaniment, it’s still an amazing reinvention of the song.  I’ve got to confess a “boy crush” on Lzzy!  While we’re featuring Halestorm’s acoustic covers, check out their version of Heart’s 80s hit, “All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To Do” as Lzzy matches the power of Ann Wilson’s original vocals.
