HARD ROCK MOTIVATION: Papa Roach and Black Stone Cherry

“GIVE ME BACK MY LIFE”   PAPA ROACH

give me back my lifeThe first comment on YouTube is an inspiring quote from a guy named Jonathan who says “This song literally says how I’ve felt since I’ve been in my wheelchair.”   From their 2012 CD, The Connection, Cali-rockers, Papa Roach vent their pain and frustration in an epic non-single “Give Me Back My Life”.  Desperate lyrics like “all the walls coming down on me” and “I can’t breathe and I can’t fight” push lead singer, Jacoby Shaddix to the edge. He fires back with the anthem cry, determined to break free.

“CAN’T YOU SEE” BLACK STONE CHERRY

BSCItunes“Gonna take a freight train, / down at the station, / Lord, I don’t care where it goes”…..add in Toy Caldwell’s solo and Marshall Tucker’s debut single became one of the greatest moments in Southern Rock history. The song has been covered by artists like the Allman Brothers, Kid Rock, Zac Brown Band, even Bret Michaels and Poison. But a recent 2009 remake by Black Stone Cherry keeps the passion of the original and adds a powerful modern rock twist to the classic.
