America’s Sweetheart of the Movies, Sandra Bullock, has the ability to emotionally connect so deeply with her audience. It comes as little shock to hear that Sandra is listed in the 2012 Guinness Book Of World Records as the highest paid actress in the world. In 2009, Sandra set a record for winning 2 Razzie Awards (the anti-Oscars) on a Saturday for All About Steve and then won an Oscar the next day for The Blind Side. Her high profile romances have filled magazine covers, we want to root for Sandra like few other actresses today.
“CHANCES ARE” BOB SEGER with MARTINA McBRIDE
One of Sandra’s most underrated films is the 1998 hometown love story, Hope Floats. Sandra produced the film and it met little commercial success. It was even panned by Rotten Tomatoes with a disappointing 24% rating. But it’s a cult classic favorite for many. Harry Connick Jr’s charming portrayal of a “good ole’ boy”/former high school classmate who never left the small town but sees the inner potential in the snobbish, former homecoming queen, “Birdie” (Sandra’s character). There are so many cute moments in the film that will capture your heart. Add in a subplot of a parent with Alzheimer’s and a daughter dealing with divorce and you have a totally moving movie experience.
The soundtrack mirrors the emotional impact of the film. Two versions of Bob Dylan’s To Make You Feel My Love open and close the soundtrack. Ironically Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood later married and each sang this beautiful tearjerker on the album. Jonell Mosser does an acoustic cover of The Supremes #1 smash, Stop In The Name of Love. Bryan Adams, The Rolling Stones, Whiskeytown, and Sheryl Crow add to the star-studded lineup. The big hit from the soundtrack was the unique pairing of Bob Seger with Martina McBride on the touching ballad, Chances Are.
