“HOLDING ON FOR LIFE” BROKEN BELLS
How could anyone not fall in love with the latest from indie-rock’s Super Group, Broken Bells? The duo of producer-extraordinaire Danger Mouse and singer, James Mercer of the Shins, score their biggest commercial hit to date with “Holding On For Life”. Somehow, they manage to evoke an 80’s party vibe with current electronic beats, and just for good measure, add a little 70’s Bee Gees-styled vocals on the hook. In fact, had to double check that Barry Gibb wasn’t making a cameo on the song. Not to be outdone, the accompanying sci-fi video stars Anton Yelchin (Star Trek Into Darkness) and Kate Mara (House Of Cards). Kate committed to the video before ever hearing the song. She told Complex Magazine, “I’m such a fan of Anton’s and always wanted to work with him… and always wanted to be in a music video, so I jumped at the chance.”
“TEN FEET TALL” AFROJACK
Grammy Winning Producer, Afrojack, has been once again voted in the Top Ten of DJs in the world for the third straight year. He hardly needs the hype, but his new label, Island Records, just scored Afrojack the biggest push ever for the new single, Ten Feet Tall. During Super Bowl XLVIII, Bud Light introduced their new Cool Twist aluminum bottles. During their high profile commercial, Budweiser premiered the hypnotic instant EDM classic, Ten Feet Tall, and offered free downloads to all Shazam listeners, 21 years and up. The single and the new bottle both premiered February 3rd. It’s a feel-good club hit that will likely be played to death before too long.
