It Soundtrack – Nostalgic 80s Music Track Listing (Pennywise)

#1 Halloween costume this year?   Pennywise The Dancing Clown from “It” has to be an early front-runner. The adaptation of Steven King’s novel, “It” will go down as the biggest September movie release of all-time.  Creepy clown smiles, the now infamous solo red balloon, the Jack-In-The-Box music as its cranked, Pennywise is now ingrained in our subconscious.  If you don’t know the story, here’s a quick recap:   Every 27 years, Pennywise the Dancing Clown makes an appearance in a sleepy New England town, Derry, Maine.    Like Freddy Krueger in Nightmare On Elm Street, the clown plays on your deep seeded fears as he takes on a crew of so-called “Losers” of high school freshmen who’ve teamed up to find a missing brother.   The popularity of the film is well deserved as the acting of the misfit teens and direction by Andy Muschietti is top-notch.  Bill Skarsgard will give you nightmares with that terrifying Pennywise smile.  The jump scares are outrageous and Steven King’s novel vividly paints a realistic small town life story that adds a believable dimension to the film. I could even see an Oscar nomination for Sophia Lillis, who owns every scene as Beverly.

IT Trailer

“It” has released a soundtrack to the film that features the score by Richard Bellis.   But the true heart of the film comes from the songs of the late 1980s that set the tone for the film.   Opening with the heavyset teen, Ben embarrassed to have his crush, Beverly, discover he’s listening to New Kids On The Block, the soundtrack features a diverse set list that includes Anthrax, The Cure, Young MC, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and XTC.    Each of these songs adds a sentimental nostalgic touch to the story and adds authenticity to the timeline.   The scene at the river with Young MC’s “Bust A Move” might be the funniest scene in a film this year. The rock fight set to Anthrax is perfect placement. Here’s the missing “It” Soundtrack.

“YOU GOT IT (the Right Stuff) ” – New Kids On The Block

“666” – Anvil

“BUST A MOVE” – Young MC

“HANGIN’ TOUGH” – New Kids On The Block

“ANTISOCIAL” – Anthrax
