KELLY CLARKSON’S Wedding Party and The-Dream’s Blues Jam

kelly-clarkson-tie-it-upAt first glance, you might think it’s a new Miranda Lambert video with the banjo player, a steel guitar, and a feisty, curvaceous singer jamming out in a barn.  But it’s the latest single but America’s sweetheart, Kelly Clarkson.  The song is dedicated to all of the crazy wedding traditions as newlyweds try to add their personal flair to the special event. Perhaps, Kelly was inspired by her own engagement and excitement for her wedding?   The song is pure pop magic with a country swing.  Kelly’s duet with Jason Aldean was nominated for multiple CMA Awards and I’ve got a hunch this one will get some nominations too.

“TOO EARLY”   THE DREAM Featuring Gary Clark Jr.

The-DreamQuite the contrast here, you’ve got The Dream heavily sampled, AutoTune vocals, mixed with authentic old school blues guitar by Gary Clark Jr.   Something old, something new?  The song is a slow burner about post-relationship issues.  The track feels retro with the “top down, gold watch” rap break and the guitar accompaniment yet maintains a current flow with the beat.   It’s great to hear something with crossover appeal from The Dream after his latest too-explicit-for-radio jams.
