“WAKE ME UP” AVICII
When you’re one of the hottest electronic dance music DJ’s on the planet, what do you do to mix things up a little bit? If you attended the Ultra Music Festival, you saw it first-hand. To a stunned rave audience, Avicii switched things up and added a folk-inspired song to his live set. The Swedish DJ has a new CD coming out today and the lead single, “Wake Me Up”, sounds like a lost Dave Matthews Band B-Side at first. But as the song progresses, the synthesizers kick in and mash up the traditional Americana-style with some hot club beats. Aloe Blacc goes uncredited for his vocals on the record.
“AGE AIN’T A FACTOR” JAHEIM
In my eyes, Jaheim remains one of the most underrated R&B singers of his generation. His ability to bring back the old school rhythm and blues vibe yet keeping things current with modern beats and studio tricks, keeps Jaheim’s music sounding fresh yet familiar. His new song, Age Ain’t A Factor, name-drops the ultra-sexy duo of Vivica Fox and Stacey Dash and even includes Vivica along with Lisa Ray and Cynthia Bailey in the video interpretation. The song’s timeless message, you only get better as you get older!
