“DANCING MACHINE” THE JACKSONS
Vintage Jackson Five, Afros, glittery suits, and some of the best choreography of the 70’s! “Dancing Machine” was released in February of 1974 and hit #1 on the R&B charts shortly afterwards. What made Dancing Machine so awesome was Michael’s introduction of the Robot Dance to the public when he performed it first on Soul Train. Actually Charles “Robot” Washington created the dance in the late 60’s and perfected his moves at parties and clubs. But Michael Jackson pushed the new dance into the mainstream. Some say that the Robot Dance is a version of the 20’s Puppeting dance moves when dancers tried to imitate marionette movements.
