Michael Jackson Backs Up Jermaine? Tell Me I’m Not Dreaming

“TELL ME I’M NOT DREAMING” JERMAINE JACKSON Ft. Michael Jackson

Jermaine Jackson’s solo records were very successful but nothing like Michael’s sales numbers. Jermaine wanted to make it on his own, so when he teamed up with Michael for his self-titled album, their collaboration was released as a B-Side. The Jackson brothers teamed up for “Tell Me I’m Not Dreaming” and it was added to back up Jermaine’s Top 10 hit, “Do What You Do”. Their respective labels, Epic and Arista, couldn’t agree on royalties so it was dismissed but radio discovered the gem. It was later nominated for a 1985 Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo/Group. Of course, anything released during Michael’s Thriller-mania era instantly turned to gold. The added exposure of MJ on Jermaine’s record ignited interest. It’s a lost 80’s classic that features the incredible family harmony we grew up hearing.

“MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD”   LENNY KRAVITZ

The love affair and marriage of Lenny to Lisa Bonet was intense.  His early CD’s were filled with passion, powerful, raw lyrics of desire and love.   “More Than Anything In This World”, Track 7 from Mama Said, is haunting, intense, and easily one of my Top 5 Lenny songs of all-time.  Like a mantra, Lenny professes his love and devotion “I just want you to be my woman, I just wanna be your man”. What the song lacked in song length time is eclipsed with passionate intensity.

“YOU STUPID GIRL”   FRAMING HANLEY

YES!  Love this video and song.  Like most people I got introduced to Framing Hanley with their cover of Lil Wayne’s Lollilop.   Classic dilemma:  can’t live with them, can’t live without them!   “You’re like an angel with broken wings”, “You’ve got me right where you want me”, “You’ll be the death of me”, great lyrics, crank this one up!
