Mike Shinoda’s Other Band :Tyrese, Earth Wind And Fire, Fort Minor

“REMEMBER THE NAME” FORT MINOR

Fort Minor is the side project of Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park. This group gives Mike the freedom to lay down his hip hop beats, freestyle, and challenge himself. On the debut CD, Mike made himself a requirement to play all the instruments and write all the lyrics to the album except for the strings, percussion, or choir parts. The best lyric of this song is the hook, 10% luck, 20% skill, 15% concetration power of will, 5% pleasure, and 50% percent pain and 100% reason to remember the name.

“LATELY”                                   TYRESE

Tyrese Gibson has acted in many blockbusters including Transformers and 2 Fast 2 Furious.   But back in 1998, Tyrese was known for his music.   He just released a new CD, “Stay” with a big Hollywood produced video for the title track (spoiler alert:   proposal at the end).    “Lately” is from his debut CD and Tyrese wrote and performed one of the most touching, beautiful love songs of the decade.    I’m sure the women didn’t mind all of the shower scenes in the video.

“LET’S GROOVE”               EARTH, WIND, & FIRE

Saw Earth, Wind, & Fire about 7 years ago and they embody what a classic band should be.    Great vocal harmony, perfect pacing on the song selection, a true band where each member is amazing individually but collectively they’re even more powerful.   “Let’s Groove” has the cheesiest 80’s video with costumes, special effects, but the music is the highlight here.    This track is a timeless summer jam to get you on the dancefloor.
