“ONE MORE CHANCE” Michael Jackson
The last music video that Michael Jackson ever filmed was his slow jam, “One More Chance” filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada. The song was part of Michael’s greatest hits package “Number Ones” and included on his monumental DVD box-set “Michael Jackson’s Vision”. “One More Chance” went to #1 in multiple countries worldwide but only went to #83 in the States. What is wrong with American pop music fans? You may recognize R. Kelly’s background vocals in the mix, he wrote the song for Michael. The music video flips the script as Michael is seen in the audience as a large choir fills the stage. While producing this video, the Neverland Ranch police raid was going on. The video wasn’t released until after Michael’s death with new footage added posthumously.
“ONE MORE CHANCE” The Jackson Five
Not to be confused with the slow jam from Michael’s solo career, “One More Chance” was also the name of the best non-Jackson Five single from their debut album. The song was the B-Side to both “I’ll Be There” and “I Want You Back”. “One More Chance” is innocent, pure, and vintage 70’s Motown. Hearing Michael sing lines like “Everybody loves the star, When he’s on the top. But no one ever comes around, When he starts to drop. But you were someone special, You stuck through thick and thin. But I was much too busy trying to shine, To let your love shine in” seem prophetic after all of the scandals regarding Michael’s tumultuous later years. You can find this song on the Jackson Five’s ABC album.
