Orange Is The New Black Season 3 Music

oitnb-magazine coversIf you haven’t been binge watching the third season of Netflix’s breakout series, Orange Is The New Black, likely one of your friends have been overdosing on the tumultuous female prison drama.  All of your favorite Litchfield inmates are back:  Crazy Eyes, Red, Piper, Daya, Pennsatucky, Nikki, Taystee, Big Boo, Sophia but the new season will be most remembered for introducing new characters. The cast was bolstered by the addition of Mary Steenburgen (as Pornstache’s mother), Lori Petty (as Lolly), comedian Mike Birbiglia, and the new breakout star, Australian model and actress Stella Carlin as the drop-dead gorgeous Ruby Rose adding to the love triangle between Piper and Alex.

Orange Is The New Black Ruby RoseNo Spoilers here but each episode ends with an outro song that defines the episode.  Most of these songs are as obscure as they come, lost treasures found while digging through a used record store, but they’re some brilliant soundtrack choices. Personal highlights: A incredible Ike and Tina Turner song, a punk rock favorite by Bikini Kill, vintage 60’s pop from The Shirelles, to a down and dirty Memphis Blues track from Willis Earl Black. Let’s look at the thirteen songs featured in Season 3 of Orange Is the New Black.
