Uma Thurman in the banana yellow jumpsuit wielding a sword against a team of Yakuza hitmen is one of the most iconic film scenes of Quentin Tarantino’s storied career. The ultra-violent scene featured Uma as The Bride tracking O-Ren to a Japanese restaurant where an epic battle between one woman and an onslaught gauntlet of opponents including The Crazy 88s and O-Ren’s female bodyguard, Gogo Yubari. This slice of Hollywood is the inspiration for the latest video, “Rockstar” by one of 2017’s breakout superstars, Post Malone.

“Rockstar” featuring 21 Savage has already hit #1 in multiple countries worldwide including an extended run on the top of the charts in the U.S. The music video comes with a NSFW label for the graphic violence in the clip but it’s kind of hard to pay homage to a Tarantino scene without going for it full force. Pitchfork claims that the video isn’t a Kill Bill reference but actually recalling a 1973 Japanese film called “Lady Snowblood”. They’re probably right since Tarantino is a huge movie buff and lover of vintage music and referenced the classics for his interpretations.
