“REBEL BEAT” GOO GOO DOLLS
Pleasantly surprised at the new radio-friendly big hit from Johnny Rzeznick and the Goo Goo Dolls. The Buffalo, NY rockers were huge stars in the 90’s including having the longest running #1 hit of the decade (Iris). After a hiatus, the band is back with a new studio album called Magnetic set for a June 11th release date. The lead single, Rebel Beat, has a street party vibe and should be a highly requested concert favorite for their tour with Matchbox 20.
“SEND THE PAIN BELOW” CHEVELLE
Chevelle is an interesting group. Classified among the Christian hard rock bands, they claim their biggest influences are the diverse combination of Helmet, Tool, and The Cure? Their biggest hit to date, Send The Pain Below, convinces us to use the negative energy around us to push us harder. They artfully describe the suffocation of a bad relationship and the emotional drain but the power chords and big chorus provide motivation to change.
“HARD TO FIND THE WORDS” CINDERELLA
Cinderella’s lead singer, Tom Keifer, just released a solo CD that is garnering high praise and comparisons to the band’s heyday in the 80’s. Cinderella only released four studio albums. The first three, Night Songs, Long Cold Winter, and Heartbreak Station all became huge hits and their big singles were on constant rotation on MTV. But after Tom lost his voice due to paresis of his vocal cords, the bands momentum stalled. Their last album, Still Climbing, had a short shelf life but the power ballad, Hard To Find The Words, deserved its spot on the band’s greatest hits compilation.
