ROCK MUSIC IS ALIVE AND WELL: Tom Keifer, Black Keys, Aranda

tom keiferIt’s been over 20 years since Cinderella was on heavy rotation for MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball. The band hasn’t released an album of original material since 1994 but lead singer, Tom Keifer, is back with his first solo album. Tom’s voice is still gritty, raw, bluesy, a little bit of Jagger with and a whole lotta swagger. There isn’t a weak track on The Way Life Goes. You can feel Tom’s love of blues, rock, and country all over the disc. Favorite tracks, so far, are Ain’t That A Bitch (heavy Stones influence) and Cold Day In Hell (complete with a harmonica solo!)

black-keys-your-touch-epNot a lot of music videos start with the band getting gunned down in the opening seconds of the clip. “Your Touch” is from the band’s fourth album, Magic Potion, in 2010. The song was featured in Woody Harrelson’s Zombieland along with the trailer for the ill-fated Battleship movie. During the music video, watch for the magical Faberge egg, the diner dialogue between the band as ghosts, and a retro guitar solo complete with heavy feedback!

arandaOklahoma brothers, Dameon and Gabe Aranda, teamed up with Mike Walker in 2001 to form Aranda, an up-and-coming modern rock band with a classic rock sound. Aranda has been opening for Daughtry and 3 Doors Down on their current tour and gaining positive press and momentum with each show. Their latest CD, Stop The World, has spawned three singles: Undone, the power ballad Satisfied, and One More Lie.
