NEW ARTISTS: Aarahdna, John Newman, The Winery Dogs

“WAKE UP”               AARAHDNA

aaradhna - CopyHalfway across the globe, Polynesian R&B singer, Aarahdna, recently won a record five New Zealand awards including Best Female, Song, Album, and Video of the Year.   Wow!   Anyone else ever heard of her in the States?   I’m not very up on Samoan pop music but I can see the potential in her voice.   You can hear traces of Amy Winehouse and Randy Crawford here.  Love the Boston Terrier in the video and Aaradhna makes a cameo at the end of the video.

“LOVE ME AGAIN”    JOHN NEWMAN

john-newman-love-me-again - CopyEntertainment Weekly magazine called this a Singles Swap.   If you’re a fan of Alex Clare’s monster #1 hit, “Too Close” then you’ll love this new track by John Newman.  The magazine describes the songs as a “similar organic-meets-electro vibe with a different romantic goal”.   The song is epic and recently hit #1 on the U.K. Singles chart.

“I’M NO ANGEL”   THE WINERY DOGS

winery-dogs - CopyMark Wahlberg starred in the movie, Rock Star.   The premise was the real life story of Tim “Ripper” Owens who fronted a Judas Priest tribute band and was later chosen to replace Rob Halford in the actual band when he left.   Well, I can see a follow up here.  The Winery Dogs are NYC up and coming all-star band with Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Billy Sheehan (David Lee Roth’s band), and Ritchie Kotzen (Poison’s Native Tongue).  I swear the spirit and voice of Chris Cornell rings loud and true here.  Cornell has been in so many bands, I can see Kotzen stepping in and filling in and not skipping a beat.
