Growing up on the East Coast, Jimmy Fallon has been a lifelong huge Bruce Springsteen fan. While most of us can only attend his concerts, Jimmy has developed a close friendship with The Boss. They’ve teamed up for some memorable performances and the E Street Band has lit up the stage on The Tonight Show for some rare performances. But one of Jimmy’s greatest tributes to Bruce was the opening scene of the 2010 Emmy Awards. Let’s countdown the Top 5 Springsteen/Fallon moments:
#5 “GOVERNOR CHRISTIE TRAFFIC JAM”
What a better combination to sing the New Jersey national anthem, “Born To Run” – the duo get “political” over Chris Christie’s new traffic policies.
#4 “WHIP MY HAIR” Bruce Springsteen
Bruce lets his hair down and dons his vintage 1975 wardrobe for a Neil Young-inspired fun covering Will Smith’s pre-teen daughter’s hit song.
#3 “THE E STREET SHUFFLE”
Bruce + The Roots + Tom Morello + the E Street Band = one of the most exciting live performances in the history of The Tonight Show. Make sure and watch the second half of the song when the crowd gets involved.
#2 “BECAUSE THE NIGHT & SAVE MY LOVE”
A double shot of RARE Springsteen tracks on The Tonight Show. Both songs were left off Springsteen’s classic album “Darkness on the Edge of Town”.
#1 “BORN TO RUN” 2010 Emmy Award Tribute
Bruce doesn’t appear on this one but it’s such a hysterical tribute to The Boss. Cameos by John Hamm, Tina Fey, The Cast of Glee, ….I’ll leave quite a few out so you’ll be surprised!
