“I WHO HAVE NOTHING” CANDICE GLOVER
The American Idol bandwagon may have lost its wheels and with Randy Jackson calling it quits, the show will never be the same. But before you stick a fork in the show and call it done, the show went out with a bang. The 2013 champion is a soulful, humble, mature, R&B powerhouse that has the potential to be one of the biggest recording artists in the show’s history. Candice Glover is from South Carolina. She’s 23 and is already an inspiration to fans everywhere. She described attending counseling over insecurities over her weight. She vowed to never wear a dress on Idol but at the finale, she did. Candice says her goal is become a teacher and help girls get through what she’s dealt with in the past. If you don’t get goosebumps during this Tom Jones torch ballad, you may need to see a doctor.
“HIGHWAY DON’T CARE” TIM McGRAW with TAYLOR SWIFT and KEITH URBAN
Tim McGraw pulls out all the stops on his latest single. The Highway Don’t Care was already an intense emotional track with a memorable video that will stick in your head long after watching it. But the inclusion of Taylor Swift for the hook, “I Can’t Live Without You Baby” is perfect. As good as the vocals are the highlight for me is Keith Urban’s brilliant guitar solo in the latter half of the song. Keith doesn’t get the credit for his musicianship but he’s one of the top guitarists playing today. The song got a million hits on YouTube in less than a week.
“DEAR DARLIN” OLLY MURS
Email, text messages, twitter tweets, what ever happened to good old pen and paper letters to each other. They’re something more direct and personal knowing that a person sat down and shared their thoughts to you in their own handwriting that a couple quick keyboard clicks. Olly Murs goes old school on his new single. You may remember his last song was an upbeat dance track called Heartbreaker with Flo Rida on the hook. This is a nice change of pace from the U.K. pop star on the rise.
