Top 10 Bands NOT in The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame (Part 2): Heart, Rush, Cheaptrick, Judas Priest, KISS

5.  HEART

Ask any popular female rock musicians of the last decade, who were some of your biggest heroes and influence in music? Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart would likely be high on almost all of their lists. They were FEMALE rock stars selling out stadiums when no other female led-bands were doing that other than Heart and Pat Benatar. The Hall of Fame recognizes influence, Heart changed the game for women and rock music.

4. RUSH

I’m not a big fan of Rush. Their prog-rock songs seem to be bloated and their extended solos get showy and boring at times. But the Hall of Fame is not what I like or what Jann Wenner likes.  Rush are a HUGE influence on so many bands. You can’t deny the incredible musical talents of drummer, Neal Peart (top 5 drummers of all-time), Alex Lifeson, and the one of a kind vocals of Geddy Lee. Yes, King Crimson, and Peter Gabriel are similar artists left out of the HOF.

3. CHEAP TRICK

This one almost feels like “oops, did we really miss them?” Cheap Trick at Budokan has been tabbed the GREATEST live album ever in many polls. For almost 40 years, Cheap Trick has been touring and selling out stadiums (and now amphitheaters). Google bands that have credited Cheap Trick as one of their biggest influences and you’ll see names like: Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kings Of Leon, Aerosmith, and Guns N Roses.

2. JUDAS PRIEST

This snub is criminal. Make a Mount Rushmore of Heavy Metal vocalists and you’d see Ozzy, Robert Plant, and Rob Halford as Must Haves on the monument. Judas Priest defined British Heavy Metal. Think of how they changed the “look” of metal with the spikes and leather. Their iconic songs set the tone for the golden era of metal in the late 70’s-mid 80’s.

1. KISS

Really? KISS is NOT in the Hall of Fame?  There would be no Lady Gaga, Gwar, Slipknot, 80’s Glam Bands, without a band like KISS and their love of theatricality. “Rock and Roll All Night”, “Detroit Rock City”, “Shout It Out Loud”……these songs are part of a ROCK n ROLL history lesson. If the Hall of Fame wants to be taken seriously, many of these bands I listed need to be included.

  1. Wow, “best work ever”. Thanks so much!! Some blog sites like for me to submit an example of my site. I’ve sent them Whatever Happened to Patty Smyth and Lisa Stansfield. I think I’ll send this one in the future based off your (as always) wonderful review!

  2. Absolutely loved Part 2!!! YAY!!! I love all of these bands so much!! I remember seeing Heart and Rush. Their performances of course were just spectacular!! I really love KISS but I have to say my favorite was Rush, especially that song. My goodness just one good memory after another. All of these bands should be in the Hall of Fame. It’s pure insanity that they aren’t and frankly just plain wrong. :/ Thanks for posting such clever blogs. In my opinion, Part 1 & Part 2 is without a doubt your best work so far. 😀 😀 😀
