“YOU GIRL” SHAGGY with NE-YO
neyo_keri_shaggyReleased just before Christmas, Shaggy teams up with the legendary dream team of reggae producers, Sly and Robbie, for a return to roots album entitled “Out Of Many One Music”. It’s a total pop/reggae fusion CD that adds guest vocals by some of the biggest reggae artists today: Damien Marley, Beres Hammond, Jimmy Cozier, Tessanne Chin (winner of The Voice), Cocoa Tea, plus R&B superstars Ne-Yo and Joe. The song with the most crossover appeal is “You Girl”, the duet with Ne-Yo. As you listen, you feel like you’re waking up to a tropical breeze on the Islands as the soft bouncy beat floats over you.

“CHILDREN OF THE SUN” THE HIP ABDUCTION

the hip abductionBased out of the Tampa Bay area, up and coming reggae band, The Hip Abduction (fans call them THA), debuted their sophomore CD at #2 on the iTunes Reggae Chart. This seven piece band of surfers manages to mesh reggae, rock, a horn section, and even African rhythms into their music. The album’s latest single, Children Of The Sun, features a video shot in Costa Rica. The chill Caribbean beach vibe is addictive and the back half of the song even includes Portuguese lyrics. Currently the band’s tour dates haven’t broken out of the Florida/Georgia market, but if their success continues, look for a national tour soon.
