Who’s Opening For The Metallica WorldWired Tour?

We’re almost halfway through the North American Leg 8 of Metallica’s huge WorldWired Tour.   Leg 9 takes the thrash metal band overseas with 39 scheduled dates all over Europe wrapping up in Helsinki, Finland on May 11th, 2018.   This entire tour kicked off on February 6th, 2016 in their hometown, San Francisco.   So we’re looking at over two years on the road for a band who’s members are 54 (Kirk Hammett), 53 yrs old (Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield), and the baby of the group, Robert Trujillo at 52 yrs. old.  Age hasn’t slowed down the band and their incredible latest album, Hardwired…..to Self Destruct has truly inspired the group and their diehard fans for another epic tour.   In the early stages, Cage The Elephant, Rancid, Babymetal, and even Iggy Pop opened the show.  But who’s opening for Metallica for the upcoming WorldWired shows?

Avenged Sevenfold will be the primary opening act in North America but select cities will also see the Danish heavy metal band, Volbeat (until July 19th including my show in Orlando) and others will see French rockers, Gojira (July 29 – Aug 16).  Once the tour jumps the Atlantic Ocean, look for the Danish metal Aphyxion in Denmark followed by Kvelertak, a hardcore metal band based out of Norway.   Altogether we’re looking at 96 shows on four continents covered in 9 legs!

“MALANGUENA  SALEROSA”   – Avenged Sevenfold

“BLACK ROSE” – Volbeat

“EXPLOSIA” – Gojira

“1985” – Kverlertak
